my daughter is 19months and im trying to potty train her but i simply dont really know where to begin, so far its just been a case of sitting her on the pot to get used to it. how did you potty train??How to potty train??..all and any advice will be sooo helpfull.?
I waited until both of my kids turned 2, so they fully could comprehend what was going on. I took the diapers away on Day 1. NO MORE DIAPERS, i put underwear on and let them feel the wet sensation..both of my kids didn't like being wet or poopy in undies so after about day 3, they didn't have anymore accidents (except for the occasional night accident when they didn't get up in time). My daughter and son were both potty trained in less than two weeks. I say don't waste your money or time on pull ups, they are the same thing as diapers and more expensive. How to potty train??..all and any advice will be sooo helpfull.?
She is very young so first you need to make sure she is ready. She has to be able to pull her own pants up and down, tell you that she needs the toilet and most importantly she needs a significant amount of bladder control which isn't usually present at this age.
It's good to get her used to the potty by sitting her on it at certain times, but until she is actually going most times you sit her on it she's probably not ready.
I've found the Gina Ford book really good. Potty trained my son in less than a week using that method but he is 26 months so a bit older.
I am now potty training my 20 month old little girl I introduced her to the potty at 18 months old but now I am pushing it. If your little girl is showing signs of readiness such as hiding to poop, taking her diaper off, coming to you when she is wet or poopy, not liking to be wet or poopy than she is ready. I do NOT use pull ups except for bed time they will use them like diapers I put my little girl in undies and take her to the potty every hour and make her sit for 5 min I will have her sit longer if she acts like she has to go and I will take her before the hour is up if she says she has to go when she pees in her undies I tell her in a stern voice no big girls don't pee in there undies they pee in the potty when she goes in the potty I give her a big smile clap my hands and jump up and down and say yeah plenty of positive praise helps I have been potty training her for 5 days and she is already telling me when she has to go potty she is doing great the first few days will be rough but stick to it she will get it. Good luck.
My nephew has just turned 3, so 36 months (i don't know if that is late or anything) and my sister has only been potty training him for a cuople of months.
At his age, he can talk and understands so my sister basically just explained to him its time for him to wear big boy pants and use the potty or toilet.
He has had a couple of accidents and asked her not to make him wear undies for a couple of week but he has recently asked to start wearing them again and he is back on track.
He actually seems to prefer using the actual toilet (with a step) instead of using a potty.
I think he pretty much has the hang of it now.
I first tried my daughter when she was about 22/23 months but she just had no interest in it whatsoever so i waited until she was about gone 2 years and tried again and it worked like a treat cos she was interested in it by then and was eager to learn.
Well at daycare we take them to the potty and we say lets make bubbles in the potty when you pee and they usually try to do it.
