What are some good tips and advice for participating in a parade with children?

My daughter Alex is participating in our town's Memorial day parade this year for the first time with her soccer team, and I was wondering if anyone had some advice? What are some good tips and advice for participating in a parade with children?
Take the camera, and tell her if anyone tried to grab her to scream as loud as possible.

My tot's were 2yo when they went in the Christmas Parade last year. Their Daddy was there and they had heaps of fun.

She will love it!!! And you can be a proud mummy

walk BEFORE the horses and don't run in front of the floats or knock down the veterans. Also, well if it's a Memorial Day one it might be a solemn parade, but tossing candy is always welcome. Toss don't THROW and make sure to toss well away from the street so little kids don't run for it and get run over--it's happened.
