Some users only post sexual questions because they think its funny or cool etc so maybe it would be appropriate to only let users of a certain age access that catagory or at least people who view questions in that catagory no exactly what the content will be
What are your opinions on this? ... Do you think it would just encourage more people to be vulgar? Do you think it would be appropriate to have a sexual advice catagory...?
Given that sex and sexuality is a normal consideration of life there appears to be no logical reason for a category such as the one suggested not to be included in Answers.
Sex and sexuality ought not to be a taboo subject - the more people understand and take responsibility for this very basic and universal need, the healthier (physically and mentally) our attitudes will become.
I'm uncomfortable with the suggestion of heavy-handed policing of such a forum and believe that we can all be responsible for making it a safe and sensible area for discussion/advice. We do not have to respond to questions posed by those seeking cheap thrills.
Any attempt to introduce an age bar is likely to fail. The earlier a person can seek good, responsible advice, the more likely we are to produce a society of sensible, well informed people. Do you think it would be appropriate to have a sexual advice catagory...?
I would agree with that, because I see quite a few legitimate, sex-related questions on yahoo answers that don't necessarily fit in ';singles and dating'; or ';men's health'; or ';women's health.'; I'm assuming that yahoo has been avoiding the implementation of such a category because they are probably worried about losing customers over it (i.e. conservative parents whose kids use yahoo and who are afraid that it would corrupt them). Or perhaps yahoo is worried that the category will be filled with teenage boys trying to post pictures of their penises and get opinions on their size?
I really don't think it would encourage people to be vulgar, though. After all, a third of the questions on Answers are already vulgar, regardless of whether they are part of the right category or not. I think most people who ask sexual questions expect to get a lot of joke answers, while people who seek to give serious answers are smart enough to identify a joke question. I'm all for it.

LOL! No, I don't think it would be a good idea - we get a lot of minors here - not a good idea! But it would be curious! ;) There would be no real way to know who was of age and who wasn't! Too easy to lie here in Y/A - look at all the multiple account trolls! I think younger people would just find a way to open a new account so that they could access it and even possibly cause trouble and harass and/or offend others! I do think it would just encourage others to be blatantly more vulgar than they already are - and get away with it! Otherwise people just wouldn't be able to post Q/A's in that category because they would always find themselves recieving violation notices! I am sure there are other sites out there that could help those who were in need or curious about 'sexual advice'!
I think if its monitored closely by the web master and the member's then yes.
I think the age restriction would be a good idea to put on it so no one under 16 can post/view in the section but then again how do we know if they have put the correct info in when joining?
All medical related sexual questions can be post in health i think. All other sexual related question is good for dating category.
I think it is needed. But such a thing would need to be heavily policed, with penalties for people who abuse it.
It should be a place where people could go for genuine help or advice.
