im about to go to a public school for the first time. i've been at a private school for the last 9 years from K-8 but im scared cuz i have to choose a new outfit everyday. i used to think i hated my uniform but now i appreciate them. im scared im gonna get lost cuz my school has a lot of ppl in it, 600 plus per class. im going to lowell by the wayI'm about to be a freshman in high school. Any advice ?!?!?
OH MY GAAAWD!! I WROTE TOO MUCH!! I'M SOOO SORRY! I'M REALLY PASSIONATE ABOUT FASHION AND CLOTHES AND HIGH SCHOOL! SORRY! JUST BEAR WITH ME!!
Trust me, no matter what you do, somethings BOUND to go wrong. Just don't freak out when it does. I'm going to be a senior in woodrow wilson this year, and it took me a while to get everything down, but everyone's usually friendly. Don't be afraid to ask around when you're lost, or don't know how to work the lockers. stop a random person in the halls and ask for help (not so quiet that they won't hear you. Don't think ';I'll just ask someone else, since he already walked away'; you WON'T ask another person)
High school is basically just a fashion show where everyone gathers to show off their outfits. Everyday, no matter how hard you work on your outfit, there'll ALWAYS be someone who looks better than you (has a better dress, better shoes, better make-up, a better hair-style) It's to be expected with over a thousand kids at the school. DON'T lose self confidence because of that! Because somewhere in that school, you're also looking better than another person. It's all basically about self confidence. Just don't expect to be the prettiest in school, you'll be setting yourself up for failure and you'll be feeling disappointing throughout the day (One time, a bought a new dress, wore it to school, and a friend of mine was wearing that EXACT. SAME. DRESS! And on the same damn day!) About 80% of your morning should be spent on your looks
(Examples would be: Hair, make-up, OUTFIT, shoes, jewelry [earrings, bracelets, necklaces] though jewelry isn't as important as hair, makeup and OUTFIT and can can be skipped) You can never have spend too much time on your look, and be sure to double check yourself in the mirror! The last thing you need is to show up to school with your skirt stuck in your panties! And don't forget to check your teeth for food stuck in them after breakfast!
Make regular visits to the bathroom to check your hair, make-up, and to see if there's anything wrong with your outfit, because sometimes people are too embarrassed to tell you anything and you end up walking around with your hair messed up! ALWAYS check before leaving the bathroom! ESPECIALLY your backside!
Oh, and I don't know what the style is over at Lowell, but in my school, backpacks are SO 3 summers ago! Everyone only carries around purses (large enough to carry a notebook in, not large enough to be, well, ugly.) Make sure the purse is cute! And if you really want a backpack, a plain, jet black one is preferred. This may all seem like a lot of work, but hard work really pays off in the end. You'll be able to walk the halls with pride, and you'll be a lot more self-confident if you actually put time into your look. And the compliments are always awesome too!
Don't forget the lotion! It leaves a feminine fragrance, and it's better than perfume (of course, you can add perfume as well) it leaves a good impression, and highlights your femininity (girls smelling good is only natural-at least that's what guys think!) And other women grow to respect you if you take a considerable amount of time with how you look! It shows that you actually thought twice about yourself before stepping out of the house! They know how hard it is to look good everyday themselves from experience, and hard work is always appreciated.
Just watch out for the jealous types! They'll try to blow off your self confidence with comments like ';Look at her...she thinks she's cute'; But just ignore it, it can't be helped. Nothing you say will make them change their minds, and the jealous types are usually small in numbers. Anyways, you'll find your own style and get used to everything eventually, I personally LOVE fashion, so I guess I got a bit carried away ;pI'm about to be a freshman in high school. Any advice ?!?!?
If anything, you'll get more attention and be more intriguing when people hear you went to private school. It's sort of like an unknown, mysterious world for public school kids that they never get to hear about. As for the clothes thing, just wear some regular jeans and some comfortable casual t-shirts or fitted t-shirts. You really don't need to dress to impress as much as you might think. The ones that do dress like that just draw uncomfortable attention to themselves. Just be yourself is really all you need to do. Be confident, and it's ok to fake confidence if you don't have it. No one will know. Another thing too is that you might get lost, but everyone does anyway, and if you do get lost, it won't last long at all. Don't be afraid to ask one of the older kids or a random teacher where to go if you get lost, believe me, they love to help. Just don't ask anyone that looks like they have a sour attitude and you'll be fine. After anywhere from the first day to the first week, you'll know your way around. The most important thing to know, is that everyone feels the same way you are feeling right now, whether they are in private school or public school or whether they are freshman or juniors. It's not as scary or as hard as you think. Don't worry! High school is fun and you'll realize that soon enough!
